When I first started growing my own marijuana, I quickly ran into an issue.

After I completed my first grow and harvested about 4 ounces of weed, I had seeds waiting to be planted and I was ready to jump back in.

Then I realized if I was just now starting seedlings when I finished one harvest, I’d be waiting at least 80-90 days until I was going to be harvesting my next crop.

The fact is, cannabis requires at least 60-90 days to go from seed to bud and the only way to speed up the process is by using a 2 in 1 grow tent.

How Does a 2 in 1 Tent Increase Your Yields?

When cannabis plants are growing in vegetative mode, they need 16 hours of light per day.

When your cannabis plant is growing buds in flowering mode, it only needs 12 hours of light per day.

Because of these differences in light needs, it’s impossible to grow 2 marijuana plants in the same space. You must separate your veg plants from your flower plants.

So if you want to get quicker turn around times on your grow cycles and bump up your yields, you need to be able to have 1 section of your tent for flowering and a separate section for vegetative mode.

And in case you were wondering, I didn’t go with a 2 in 1 tent. I actually bought a separate grow tent so I can have 2 full grow operations happening at the same time.

One of the limits to a 2 in 1 grow tent is that the “2 in 1” area is much smaller than a normal tent. It’s basically only for the first 4 weeks of life when your plant is getting started in vegetative mode. After that, you’re expected to move it to the larger area of the tent.

This picture makes it obvious how big of a size difference there is between the veg area and the flowering area.

Best 2 in 1 Tent Options

Now that we’ve covered why a 2 in 1 tent is so beneficial for increasing your yields, here’s a run down of my top 4 choices. We’ll go into more detail on each one.

#1 Choice – TopoGrow 2-in-1 Grow Tent

The TopoGrow 2 in 1 tent is my favorite choice.

  • It’s a big tent so you’ll have big yields.
  • The vegetative areas are the perfect size; not too big, not too small.
  • It’s easy to assemble and doesn’t leak light.

Most grow tents are fairly similar. Some of the cheaper ones have shoddy construction that make them a little wobbly but for the most part, the good grow tents have a lot in common.

TopoGrow’s 2 in 1 tent is really sturdy and doesn’t leak any light. The zippers are high quality and keep all of the light in so the tent is nice and discrete.

The vegetative areas are 12″ x 24″ which is about as small as you can go without running into issues for a vegging plant.

There’s a top and bottom section so you could have 1-2 plants in each veg area a once, before transferring all 4 of them to the flowering area.

This tent also comes in at a lower price point than some of the competitors which is why it’s my top choice.

Runner Up – GrowNeer 2 in 1 Tent

The GrowNeer tent is the cheapest grow tent on this list. The reason for that is because it’s much smaller.

Measuring just 36″ x 24″ at the base and a height of 53″, this tent is about as small as you’d want to go.

When I got into growing I started with a 48″ tall tent and immediately regretted it. My next tent was 60″ tall and it works much better. My yields increased and the stress of watching your plant climb towards the lights every day is much lower 🙂

If you’re tight on space or if you only want to have a max of 2 plants in the flowering stage at once, then this tent is a good option.

Build quality is inline with other mid range tents; not the best, not the worst. It’ll do just fine. Ultimately the biggest factor that will dictate if this tent is right for you is how many plants you want to grow. If you’re a small personal grower then this is a great starter 2-in-1 tent.

Big Ass Tent – Hydro Plus 2 in 1 Tent

If you want to grow 8 plants at once, the Hydro Plus 2 in 1 grow tent is what you’re looking for.

This thing is f*$&ing huge.

Measuring 108″ x 48″ at the base with an 80″ height, this is the tent for serious growers.

The veg area is fairly small; about the same size as the other tents on our list.

All of the space in this tent is reserved for flowering. Technically you could dedicate one entire tent area to further vegetative growth and use the designated veg area for cloning/germination but that would restrict your flowering space to just 1 tent.

Another Choice – Viparspectra 2 in 1 Tent

Viparspectra is mostly known for their grow lights which are cheap and powerful.

Their grow tents are just as capable and affordable making them good middle of the road options for new growers.

This specific tent is 48″ x 36″ meaning it can fit about 6 plants in flowering mode. It has 2 compartments for plants in veg mode which is the same setup as all the other tents on this list.

If you’re looking for a quality, middle of the road tent, the Viparspectra is a good option.
